Geraldine Bishop was the general magistrate of the Fifth Judicial Circuit for Hernando County for 13 years. Prior to her appointment she worked as a State of Florida law clerk/staff attorney for Hernando County. Bishop graduated, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of South Florida, in 1983. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and passed the Bar exam in 1986. Bishop was instrumental in creating the Ask-a-Lawyer program and served as president for Hernando County Bar Association. In 2004 she was named Outstanding Member of the Year by the Hernando County Bar Association. And, in 2010 she was honored with the “Over the Bar” award by the Women’s Bar of Citrus and Hernando counties. She received the PHCC Distinguished Alumni Award in 2013. She established the Linda Bishop Tew Memorial Scholarship in honor of her daughter and later established the Geraldine E. Bishop Second Chance Scholarship. Her support has assisted numerous PHSC students striving to reach their educational goals.
Bishop passed away on April 8, 2017. She will be greatly missed by her PHSC family.
