The PHSC nursing department received a bundle of joy this spring in the form of a new pediatric simulation baby manikin. Purchased with funds donated by the Hernando Healthcare Foundation (HHF), “Bobby” the SimBaby, is a high-tech simulator manikin that is designed to help health care providers effectively recognize and respond to critically ill pediatric patients.

The HHF Board were invited to meet Bobby at the PHSC North Campus in Brooksville, giving them a chance to listen to his heart and lung sounds, and watch him suffer an allergic reaction. Board members were also able to hear directly from nursing students who benefit from their scholarship fund, and learn about the upcoming expansion of nursing programs at the PHSC North Campus.

The HHF is a longtime partner of PHSC, having contributed $590,852 to the PHSC Foundation since 2010. These funds have provided 265 students with scholarships and $187,464 in equipment to advance health care training for Hernando County.
