The Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) Foundation recently received a $25,000 donation from the Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC) Foundation. The funds will be used to support college programming with $10,000 allocated to its Take Stock in Children program for Hernando County.

“The WREC Foundation believes that higher education is the key that opens doors for all students,” said Billy Brown, executive vice president/general manager of WREC, “and we are pleased to be able to support this important program.”

Take Stock in Children promotes personal growth, self-responsibility and academic success for deserving low-income students in Hernando County by providing resources that support their middle and high school academic efforts. This donation continues a long-standing relationship between WREC and the PHSC Foundation.

“WREC created a fund, the WREC Faculty Chair, to support the professional academic growth and development of PHSC instructors with a major donation in 1993. Since then several faculty members have benefited from this generosity, and so too will

Hernando County students through Take Stock in Children,” said William Shustowski Jr., Ph.D., executive director, PHSC Foundation.
