The Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) Foundation recently received a $40,000 grant from the Edward K. Roberts Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.
The contribution will provide scholarships to PHSC students in the summer and fall semesters of 2017. Preference will be given to part-time students who may not qualify for other financial aid. The Edward K. Roberts Fund donation of $40,000 in 2016 provided scholarships for 60 PHSC students.
Roberts was a generous lifelong donor to PHSC. He relocated to Sarasota, Fla., and upon his death in 2009, established the Edward K. Roberts Fund with the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. Since 2011, the fund has donated $300,000 from the Edward K. Roberts Community College Fund providing scholarships to more than 500 PHSC students. PHSC was one of several colleges specified to be eligible for distributions from the fund.
